Chemotherapy induced nausea & vomiting (CINV)

Description

APD403 is a currently marketed drug being developed for the new use of prevention and treatment of chemotherapy induced nausea & vomiting (CINV). An intravenous formulation has been developed for the treatment of acute CINV and non-injectable presentations will be developed for use by patients outside the hospital environment in delayed CINV. The drug is based on the same dopamine D2-antagonist as APD421.

Status

APD403 has been shown by Acacia Pharma to be highly effective in preclinical models of CINV. A Phase IIa clinical study to establish proof-of-concept (PoC) in cancer patients receiving the highly emetogenic chemotherapeutic agent cisplatin, was initiated Q1 2011. The PoC study was then extended during Q4 2011 to include an additional arm due to the positive results generated. APD403 will be advanced into a dose-ranging Phase II CINV study once Phase II is complete for the PONV indication.
