Acacia Pharma is focused on cancer supportive care – the management of the symptoms of cancer, or the side effects of cancer therapy. New and improved products, in this large, increasingly important yet poorly served area, are crucial for improving both the effectiveness of cancer treatment and the quality of life of cancer patients.
Acacia Pharma has generated a pipeline of product opportunities addressing a range of cancer supportive care indications, such as nausea & vomiting, xerostomia and cachexia, using a commercially driven approach to product development by identifying new uses for already marketed drugs.
This strategy leads to product opportunities with a higher probability of success and allows the company to obtain clinical proof-of concept rapidly and move quickly to the market, because the products are based on already well-characterised medicines.
The Company intends to develop its own hospital-focused commercial infrastructure in selected European countries and to out-license its products in other regions.
